Guitarra Portuguesa - an exotic 12 string instrument popular in Portuguese fado music - this is a Lisboa version. I picked it up in Lisbon in June, brought it back to Ireland and have spent the last few months modifying it to try and make it sound even remotely 'Irishy'.
Originally tuned DABEAB - I now have it in open C... CGCGCC after a lot of string swapping, and occasional breaking.

The accompanying C/G drone is from an Indian shruti box.

Tune is from blind Irish harpist Turlogh O'Carolan - Si Beag Si Mor. Written in the 17th century - which would roughly coincide with the last time the Preston type tuners on this instrument were seen anywhere outside of Portugal...
