Microsoft Excel Tutorial: Excel for Mac 2011: How to Fix the Macro Recorder Bug with Color Recording | MrExcel Podcast.

Welcome to another episode of the MrExcel Podcast. In this episode, we will be discussing a common issue that has been brought to my attention twice in the past week. It seems that many of you are using Macs and are having trouble with the macro recorder. Well, fear not, because I have a solution for you.

Now, let's get into the issue at hand. In Excel for Mac 2011, there is a bug with the macro recorder where it records the color as "xlAutomatic" instead of the actual color code. This can be frustrating, but luckily there is a simple workaround. First, we need to grab the color code for the desired color by going to the Paint bucket, selecting "More Colors," and then writing down the red, green, and blue values. Then, we can use the RGB function in the macro editor to input the correct color code.

It's important to note that this bug is not uncommon, as the VBA macro recorder was not available in Excel 2008 and was only recently reintroduced in Excel 2011. So, the Mac team is still working out some kinks. But, with the use of the RGB function, we can easily work around this issue and continue using the macro recorder on our Macs.
