The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced significant changes to the evaluation process for the 2025 board exams. Here are the key updates:

Passing Criteria
Students must secure at least 33% marks in each subject, including both theory and practical exams, to pass ¹ ².
For subjects with both theory and practical exams, students must secure 33% separately in theory, practical, and the overall total to pass ².

Evaluation Process
The CBSE has introduced a revamped marking scheme and answer framing techniques for the 2025 board exams ³.
Long-answer questions will feature a detailed marking scheme, allocating specific marks for each step or point in a response.
Short-answer questions will include marks for specific keywords or critical points, encouraging students to focus on precision.

Copy Checking Update
Students who aren't satisfied with their results can apply for verification of marks, photocopies of evaluated answer sheets, and revaluation of their answers ¹ ².
The CBSE will provide a detailed report on the evaluation process, including the marks awarded for each question.

Grading System
The CBSE follows a *9-point grading scale*, where A1 is the highest (91-100 marks) and E is a failing grade ¹ ².
Grades are awarded based on relative performance rather than fixed percentage cutoffs.

Compartment Exams
Students who fail one or two subjects can retake the compartment test to improve their chances of passing ¹.
They are given up to three attempts: first in July/August of the same year, second in March/April of the following year, and third in July/August of the following year.
