The world was blessed with the revival of the Doom franchise and a remaster of Modern Warfare, AAA endeavors such as Battlefield 1 and Far Cry Primal, and the hotly-anticipated release of high-potential newcomers like Overwatch and Superhot. In short, Titanfall 2 launched in a brutally competitive year. But that didn't stop it from swinging for the fences. Respawn's goal with Titanfall 2 wasn't just to tread water in an oversaturated market, but to stand up to the industry and deliver a product that would not only goe toe-to-toe with its contemporaries, but leave a permanent mark on the genre's fabled history. In that respect, its greatest adversary at this point is hindsight, and the years between its initial release and now. So how does this game of the year contender hold up?
