DCDC stands for Discovering Collections, Discovering Communities. It is a cross-sectoral conference, hosted by The National Archives, RLUK and Jisc, that brings together the GLAMA sectors (galleries, libraries, archives, museums and academia) to shine a light on our shared experiences, innovations, interests and concerns. One of the many things we learnt in 2020 was the extent to which Arts & Humanities research still involves extensive travel to work on original materials from archives, rare books and museum collections. This workshop explores how we might ‘design and build’ alternative models at scale that fully enable research that is remote, innovative and collaborative. The design needs to incorporate traditional and emerging research methods (and develop new ones); the build needs to include infrastructure and equipment, staff resource and skills.
