Red Dead Revolver was originally developed by Angel Studios, which was later acquired by Rockstar and renamed Rockstar San Diego.
Red Dead Redemption and its sequel were developed by Rockstar San Diego (so a continuation of Angel Studios), in collaboration with several other Rockstar studios.
Broadly speaking, Red Dead Revolver is the forerunner of the Red Dead series, but in terms of story and gameplay, Red Dead Redemption is considered more of a reboot or spiritual successor than a direct sequel.
