Once called Livissi, the town's history is very sad and painful. It was inhabited by Greeks who lived in harmony with the Turkish people from the Ottoman Empire until the Turkish-Greek War from 1919-1922.

In WWI (1914-1918) and in the war afterward, the Greeks from this village were persecuted, tortured, or even killed, which led to an exchange of population with Greece. So, they abandoned the village and went to Greek islands, but the Turks who came from Greece in the population exchange didn't want to settle to Livissi because they said it is haunted by the Greeks' souls killed there. So, from the '20s it is a ghost village.
