Join us for the first annual Singing Bird Music School (August 1, 2, & 3, 2018) in Berea, the folk arts and crafts capital of Kentucky!

Musicians of all experience levels (age 10 and up) are welcome to participate in three days of hands-on classes in old time fiddle, banjo, guitar, flatfoot dancing, and singing with teaching artists Pam Gadd, Sam Gleaves, Carla Gover, John Harrod, Michael Parks, Lucian Parker, and Deborah Payne. The school welcomes beginning musicians. No previous experience playing a stringed instrument is required. A limited number of scholarships and work study positions will be available to assist with registration costs. Educators participating in the school will receive certificates of participation for professional learning credit. Come join us and enjoy three days of fun and new musical friendships centered around old time Appalachian music, song and dance. The Singing Bird Music School celebrates the living legacy of master artists Lewis Lamb, traditional fiddler, and Lovester Wilkinson, quilter, singer and storyteller.
