If you haven't seen my Windrunner review, check it out here:

I made this video from a subscriber asking if I can do a comparison to the Roadrunner and the Windrunner. Both excellent and affordable yoyos but I can already tell this isn't a very similar comparison.

The Roadrunner is an undersized yoyo as you'll see in this video. Although the Roadrunner is small, that doesn't mean it will perform in a small way. Instead the Roadrunner is a great undersized yoyo. Most of the Duncan yoyos I own have been consistently smooth and with little to no vibe, the Roadrunner is no different. I bought mine brand new and it's smooth as butter.

With the design/profile of the yoyo being more bell shaped than the Windrunner, it definitely gives a little bit more power to the rim. With that spire in the center of the cup, it does make finger spins off centered but the benefit is the bounciness of the yoyo.

With all of it's quirks the Roadrunner is a very impressive yoyo. Small and compact that it easily fits in your pocket (although I wouldn't recommend it to prevent scratches) this yoyo plays so well in a big way. Overall lighter than the Windrunner and slightly wider making the Roadrunner a very versatile yoyo to play with.

Based on the design and how it plays I would say that the weight distribution is more like 59R/41C (R=rim, C=center) giving this yoyo a little more rim emphasis and very stable. Every string hit feels confident and sure. Although I give it a lot of rim weight distribution, it still maintains a very good amount of bounciness.

To compare the Roadrunner to the Windrunner is kind of difficult because well...it plays totally differently. After throwing the Roadrunner around, using the Windrunner feels extremely light and balanced which I can start to understand since the Windrunner is more mid-body weight distribution since it is a 2 ring design. In the least amount of words to sum this comparison up...
"The Roadrunner is a great undersized yoyo that packs a punch. Zippy and stable makes this a yoyo that makes grinding out your existing tricks fun while giving the same experience trying to learn new tricks as well. The Windrunner on the other hand is a full sized yoyo that covers a lot bases. It's comfortable in the hand and is well balanced overall with the slight added perk of a finger spin dimple."

Both are great throws with each their own pros and cons. I can't say one is significantly better than the other, more or less it's on what you're in the mood for.
