Don't miss the "Venice of the Algarve": Things to see in TAVIRA, Portugal (in March)

What to do in Tavira, Portugal, in one day, during winter? I visited Tavira in March, during my month-long stay in Algarve in the winter of 2023.

This gorgeous old town in the Algarve offers the most fascinating blend of Portuguese and Spanish cultures, and it's well worth a day trip if you're in the Algarve region.

In this video, I tried to show you some of the cute corners of Tavira, the riverbank and the old town and then drove to the salt lake area (the Salinas do Forte do Rato), where we even saw a flamboyance (a bunch of flamingos), because they love salt water and can be found all around the Mediterranean area during the European winter.

If you have more time to spend in Tavira, I recommend taking the boat to Ilha de Tavira, if you want to spend some time at the beach. Even in March, the weather was nice enough for some beach time.
