RMJM is excited to release the first of several videos under the theme “Future of RMJM”. From the Metaverse to Mars, our young architects are exploring ways to live beyond our Earth, and debate various hot topics dissecting the current world and future of architecture.

Since the 50’s there has been an ongoing ‘space-race’, with agencies across the world striving to achieve the next big step in space exploration. In recent news, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid has announced UAE’s aims to establish the first human settlement on Mars by 2117. This 100-year project is to be a seed that whilst planted today, future generations will reap the benefits of.

But what does this mean for the world we are currently living in and does this suggest a long term plan to abandon our dying planet? What is key in the mind of RMJM during these discussions is the consideration of how society can optimise these opportunities?
