Marking 20 years since Hurricane Katrina, the mini film “20 Years Stronger: Remembering Katrina” explores the Louisiana SPCA’s pivotal role in the largest animal rescue operation in U.S. History.

Featuring rare footage and voices of former leaders and frontline responders, the film highlights the rescue of over 15,000 animals during the 2005 crisis and the Louisiana SPCA’s journey to rebuild with a new shelter, expanded programs, and stronger laws to keep people and pets together during disasters.

With the release of “20 Years Stronger: Remembering Katrina,” we invite you to support our lifesaving initiatives and critical shelter improvements by donating through our website. Every donation made in commemoration of Twenty Years Stronger allows us to continue providing humane adoptions, lifesaving rescue services, advanced veterinary care, and vital community programs for pets and people throughout the Greater New Orleans region through our shelter.

In partnership with the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), every donation made will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $100,000, through the end of October 2025.
