The Plastics Export Promotion Council (popularly known as PLEXCONCIL) sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Department of Commerce, Government of India, represents the exporting community in the Indian Plastics industry.

PLEXCONCIL is the apex body of the plastics industry in India and represents over 2,500 exporters who manufacture/trade in plastics products ranging from plastics raw materials to semi-finished and finished items.

The council is administered by the Committee of Administration (CoA) consisting of nominees from Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India; as well as elected representatives from the export trade. The CoA comprises of Chairman (1), Vice-Chairman (1), Regional Chairman (4), Panel Chairman (13). The Panel Chairman of thirteen product panels of the council – Consumer & houseware products; Cordage, fishnets & monofilaments; FIBC, Woven sacks, Woven fabrics, Tarpaulin; Floorcoverings, leathercloth & laminates; FRP & Composites; Human hair & related products; Medical items of plastics; Miscellaneous products and items nes; Packaging items - flexible, rigid; Plastic films and sheets; Plastic pipes & fittings; Plastic raw materials; and Writing instruments & stationery – are headed by veterans and captains of the Indian plastics industry.

Products from the Indian plastics industry are exported to over 200 countries across the globe including top destinations like Italy, Germany, and United Kingdom in Europe; Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya in Africa; Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka in South Asia; Viet Nam and Indonesia in ASEAN; along with China and the United States of America.
