Sashiko Cross Flower stitch (Jujihanasashi) with Hitomezashi. For Sashiko beginners!

Описание к видео Sashiko Cross Flower stitch (Jujihanasashi) with Hitomezashi. For Sashiko beginners!

Thank you for watching and welcome back!
I've been making Sashiko videos recently as part of my project to make some special and practical gifts.

I am not a Sashiko expert but I've been enjoying the beauty of Sashiko for a while, mainly using the traditional Japanese patterns.

In this video, I'll show how I stitch the cross flower stitches (Juji-Hana Zashi) with Sashiko.
This traditional pattern may look a bit complicated but it's actually very simple.
It uses the hitome-zashi technique (you draw a grid and stitch using the grid lines) just like some coasters I made in the previous videos and comprises with horizontal lines, vertical lines and diagonal lines.
There are different ways to stitch Sashiko patterns and you don't always need to follow exactly the way I stitch but I hope this video explains the basic idea of the pattern.
In the next video, I will make a hair tie using this piece I'll stitch in this video!

The grid I'm using in this video is 20x20 of 5mm squares.
the size of squares can be 1/4in as well.
the Hitomezashi technique is a great place to start Sashiko as you can stitch on a simple grid and you don't need to know how to draw specific patterns. If you are interested in the Hitome-zashi technique, or making some special gifts with Sashiko please watch these videos as well. They are all small projects so it would be perfect for beginners too!
