Title: Projective limits of Markov processes

Abstract:
This is the third of a series of talks on a categorical approach to approximating Markov processes by averaging. In the first (   • ACT@UCR Seminar: A Categorical View of Con...  ), I described a functorial view of conditional expectation and in the second (   • Prakash Panangaden: Approximating probabil...  ) I described how one could use this to define an approximation of a Markov process. In this talk I will show how to construct a family of finite approximations to a Markov process and how to reconstruct the Markov process as the colimit of this diagram. Along the way, I will show that this is a minimal realization of the Markov process. While this talk builds on the first two, I will try to provide enough of a recap so that it will be self contained.
