Impact music, composed and improvised by this sparkling and decomposed duo. A presentation of their work: "Papa Legba Is Our Sensei is a duo gathered on this occasion to tell the story of a long (and still ongoing) training. This is how Alberto N. A. Turra and Alberto Pederneschi, already together in many Turra's productions (Azimuth, Filmworks, International Troubadours – Turra can still be found in this catalog with Spiritsongs, a quartet with Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz, Brian Marsella and Sergio Quagliarella, see SM3120), claim the need that led them to record about half an hour of music. They call it "Devotional Jazz Core". Nine miniatures inspired by/from a figure as much far from italian/european folklore as fundamental for all the music that has developed from the roots of rural american black music onwards. Papa Legba, Loa, one of the most powerful and important myths of the Haitian voodoo culture and of the southern United States, guardian of the threshold between the world of the living and that of the dead. Main responsable, according to the legend, of the birth of the music of his eminence Robert Johnson. Mistakenly identified with the devil himself, Papa Legba is, more properly and syncretically, the figure on which the aforementioned populations modeled the figures of Saint Anthony of Padua and Saint Peter. Probably, he's much more than that."
