How to Paint a Polycarbonate Remote Control Car Body

1. Preparation
Clean the Body
Wash the polycarbonate body with mild soap and water to remove any dust, grease, or mold release agents. Dry it thoroughly with a lint-free cloth.
Masking:
Use masking tape to cover any areas you don't want to paint, such as windows or design elements.

2. Apply Paint
Choose the Right Paint: Use polycarbonate-compatible spray paint (usually labeled "RC car body paint" or "Lexan paint"), as it is specially formulated to adhere to flexible surfaces.
Spray Light Coats:
Apply the paint from the inside of the body in thin, even coats. Start with light coats, allowing each to dry for a few minutes before applying the next. Multiple thin layers will provide better coverage and reduce the risk of runs or drips.

3. Curing
Let the Paint Cure:
Allow the painted body to dry for at least 24 hours in a dust-free environment. This helps the paint fully adhere to the surface and achieve maximum durability.

4. Finishing Touches
Remove Masking Tape:
Carefully remove the masking tape after the paint has dried. Clean up any overspray or edges if needed.
Apply Decals:
Once the paint is fully cured, you can add decals or stickers to personalize the car further.
