Our second Downtown Eastside Artist Showcase set features Indigenous artist duo, Kizzy & Justin! Hosted by Aly Laube and Anjalica Solomon at the Red Gate Arts Society.

(CW: discussion of MMIWG+, residential schools, intergenerational trauma)

In this set, Kizzy (Dene, Cree) and Justin (Nisga'a) live-paint a piece dedicated to missing and murdered Indigenous women, to a soundtrack composed entirely of Kizzy & Justin's own music. Later on, Justin performs a spoken word piece inspired by the film "Indian Horse" (2017) and his grandparents' experiences in the residential school system.
