We take a POV ride on 3x (out of 4x) escalators at the Markische Straße stadtbahn station’s second side exit in Dortmund, Germany. 🇩🇪 These older 1984 O&K escalators also sound great when starting up with a proper WHOOPING DC motor sound! (They were built at the Hattingen, Germany factory and are the type RT-HD). Here, all 4x escalators are automatic and the 2-way functionality is active meaning they run both up and down changing direction depending on traffic. The newer Kone escalators are the type Eco3000 E3H and I expect they replaced more of the old O&Ks since as they’re outdoors they’re more prone to weather damage.

The opposite end of the platforms have 6x tall ThyssenKrupp escalators from the late 2010’s - they replaced more 1984 O&Ks unfortunately which had a super unique setup in that the central escalators ran at a higher speed than the normal up and down ones on the left and right…
