Shiva Stuti in Raga Darbari Kanada | Bhajan | Om Namah Shivaya | Mahashivaratri

AARSHIN KARANDE, senior disciple of Mewati Gharana luminary SANDEEP RANADE "NAADRANG," offers a rendition of Rāga Dārbarī Kānadā on the occasion of Mahashivaratri (February 18th, 2023).

This bandish, describing the paradoxical epithets of Lord Shiva as "Bhootnath" ("Master of Spirits") and "Pashupatinath" ("Master of Wilds"), was written and composed by Pandit Jasraj-ji.

Rāga Dārbarī Kānadā - a compound of rāga-angas Kānadā and Malhār created by Miyan Tansen - brings out the mysticism and devotional mood of this bandish.

This bandish are presented humbly as an offering to the consciousness symbolized by Lord Shiva.

LYRICS:

हर हर हर भूतनाथ पशुपती ।
योगेश्वर शिव पिनाक पानी ।१।

ऊर्ध्व ज्वलत जटा जाल नाचत व्योमकेश भाल ।
सप्त भुवन धरत ताल टलमल अवनी ।२।

TRANSLATION:

The speaker describes the mastery of Lord Shiva over spirits and creatures alike. As his body dances so does the universe - space, water, and fire tremble with his dance.
