1. Make sure there are no leaks in the scope by attaching the pressure tester and pressurizing it to 160 mmHg. Make sure it does not decrease 10 mmHg over 20 seconds.
2. Depressurize the system before disconnecting the pressure tester.
3. Clean the equine endoscope externally using a mild detergent solution and soft cloth or gauze sponge.
4. Pass the biopsy cleaning brush through the biopsy channel and look for it to exit the tip of the scope. Remove it in reverse fashion.
5. Next, remove the air/water and suction knobs and insert the channel blocker. Flush the biopsy channel from the umbilical attachment all the way through the tip of the scope.
6. Rinse the scope using clean water and flush clean water through the biopsy channel.
7. Place clean and rinsed scope into an appropriate enzyme cleaner solution so it’s submerged; flush the enzyme cleaner through the biopsy channel. Let the scope sit for the recommended amount of time and rinse completely using fresh clean water.
8. Prepare an appropriate disinfectant and repeat the procedure: Submerge the scope in the disinfectant and flush disinfectant through the biopsy channel soaking the scope for the recommended amount of time.
9. Rinse the scope with fresh clean water, followed by distilled water. Flush the biopsy channel with distilled water.
10. Flush the air/water channel with distilled water.
11. Dry the clean horse scope and hang it so that the residual water can drain out of the air/water and biopsy channels.
