This week, I have challenged our fabulous racers with some of the best road cars in Gran Turismo. The first races have often seen cars sliding around whilst the racers got to grips with the cars characteristics, but we have ended up with some fabulous on track action, with everyone rising to the challenge.

So, tonight I unleash the beast. With its monstrous levels of power an grip, this venerable machine could arguably be called America's first supercar. Well that is what Polyphony Digital say, but give me a Shelby Mustang or Cobra any day of the week, but we digress.

The question remains, will our formidable group of racers be able to tame the beast tonight and offer us up some more outstanding close battles on track. You just know that this is going to be a good one.

Using AI again, as I have all week, but choosing US tracks only for this one, we will be running the following races tonight:

Dodge Viper GTS '02 - Laguna Seca - 6 laps - 2x 2x Light - SS (X)
Dodge Viper GTS '02 - Daytona Road Course - 6 laps - 2x 2x Light - SS (X)
Dodge Viper GTS '02 - Big Willow - 6 laps - 2x 2x Light - SS (X)
Dodge Viper GTS '02 - Trial Mountain Circuit - 6 laps - 2x 2x Light - SS (X)
Dodge Viper GTS '02 - Nordschelife 24h - 1 lap - 2x 2x Light - SS (X)
Dodge Viper GTS '02 - Tokyo - Smashy Crashy (no rain))

I will include the AI generated reasons for these track choices below.

I will be hosting the lobby from 21:00 until 23:00 as usual. I have gone with SS tyres because this is a road car.

(X) denotes that there is no mandatory pit stop (1 or Tyres) denotes a mandatory pit stop.

I will keep this as a private lobby unless we have only a few PSR racers.

WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca
Why it’s great: A classic real-world road course with tight technical sections (Corkscrew, Turn 1) mixed with flowing rhythm. It rewards precision and really close racing — ideal for muscle cars like the Viper that can brake hard and power out of slower corners.

Battle Points: Heavy braking zones into medium corners; slipstream on back straight.

Daytona Road Course
Why it’s great: The infield road course combined with parts of the famous banked oval creates unique overtaking opportunities and high-speed slipstream fights. Tackling the banked sections in a Viper can lead to real side-by-side moments.

Battle Points: Fast sectors, heavy braking into chicanes, strategic positioning on banked corners.

Willow Springs International Raceway – Big Willow
Why it’s great: A fast, flowing desert circuit with long high-speed corners and heavy braking points. The combination of high minimum speeds and tight slow spots makes for exciting close following and slipstream battles.

Battle Points: Sweeping corners that punish errors and open straight leading into a big braking zone.

Trial Mountain Circuit
Why it’s great: Gran Turismo’s classic fictional circuit with elevation changes, blind crests, flowing rhythm sections and several overtaking spots. The combination of uphill–downhill and flowing mid-section means drivers stay grouped and tyre management becomes a real factor — especially with Sports Softs.

Battle Points: Elevation changes and blind corners make wheel-to-wheel battles thrilling and tactical.

🏆 Tips for Close, Fast Racing with the Viper

Use slipstream on long straights — it’s often where the biggest battles form.
Brake late but smart into heavy braking zones .
Manage tyre wear across six laps — softs will drop bite quickly under pressure.
Practice smooth throttle control to balance the Viper’s torque out of slow corners.
