Samparda in Sikhism: History, Significance & Misconceptions | Ft. Gyani Prabhjeet Singh Ji

In this episode of Nek Punjabi History, part of our Sikhi Talks series, we sit down with Gyani Prabhjeet Singh Ji, a Sikh scholar currently pursuing his PhD in Sikh History from Punjabi University, Patiala. Together, we explore the real meaning and background of *Samparda in Sikhism — where it started, why it was needed, and what role it still plays today.

We talk about the historical rise of various Sampardas after Guru Gobind Singh Ji, and how they helped preserve Sikh thought, Rehat, and traditions. But today, many young Sikhs are moving away from these traditions. Why? Are Sampardas still relevant, or have they lost their purpose?

Gyani Ji also shares his views on important issues like the Maryada of Amrit, whether *Nirmal Samparda are required to take *Khande Di Pahul, and how **Kar Sewa, in the name of service, is sometimes erasing priceless **Sikh heritage. He doesn’t hold back while discussing the condition of the **SGPC*, saying it's now more of a “Shiromani Golak Committee” than a Panthic body.

From the once fierce and active *Nihang Singhs, to today’s youth who are confused about which path to follow, this episode asks the tough but necessary questions: *What is the real face of Sampardas today? How do we know which one to trust?
