10 Divided by 1/4 (Ten Divided by One-Fourth)

Описание к видео 10 Divided by 1/4 (Ten Divided by One-Fourth)

To divide 10 by 1/4 we can either multiply the first fraction by its reciprocal OR we could find a common denominator for both fractions. In this video we'll use the reciprocal method. Both methods produce the same answer in fraction form.

First we change 10 ÷ 1/4

to

10 times 4/1 (10 x 4/1)

This gives us 40/1 which is equal to 40.

So 10 ÷ 1/4 = 40.

Note that if you multiplied 40 times 1/4 you would end with 10.

Multiplying a fraction by its reciprocal is often easier for more complicated fractions where finding a common denominator is more challenging.
