The Isle of Sheppey is an island off the northern coast of Kent, England, neighbouring the Thames Estuary, centred 42 miles from central London. It has an area of 36 square miles. The island forms part of the local government district of Swale. Sheppey is derived from Old English Sceapig, meaning "Sheep Island". Wikipedia
Sheppey, once mainly known for sheep-rearing as its name implies, falls into two regions – the northern half, built up and developed, which includes the towns of Sheerness, Minster, Queenborough and Leysdown, and the southern part, mainly consisting of marshes and the occasional tiny hamlet.
