First time cleaning my mountain bike chain

Follow along as I do my first chain maintenance. I will take the chain off, clean and scrub the drivetrain and chain with degreaser, put it all back together, and lube it up!

As I was riding, the chain would jump off the front chainring when I put driving pressure on the pedals such as going up a hill. Upon closer inspection, I saw the chain was so gunked out with dirt and debris that I wanted to try cleaning it first to see if it would solve the problem.

I’m a beginner mountain biker learning how to do my own maintenance to try to save some money. Everything I’ve learned and done in this video was learned through YouTube academy and Reddit MTB forums.
