The album is the opening work of a brand-new incredibly well-matched trio, which finds in Carlo Morena its
beating heart. Pianist and composer of long experience, Morena has collected numerous collaborations and has widened
his backgrounds, spacing from classical 20th-century music to the European jazz traditions, with a hint of African
American influence, always with a strong emphasis on jazz improvisation. The encounter with two musicians, which
seemed to perfectly share his beliefs, gave the Carlo Morena Trio project its life spark: bass player Yuri Goloubev,
astonishing in his unique expressive abilities that often put him right into limelights; young drummer Michele Salgarello,
amazingly talented in his ability to bring together the trio with solid timings and rhythms, while preserving individual
initiatives and favouring the emerging of the widest personal range of feelings. This work reflects the outstanding features
of these brilliant musicians, moving freely from light and improvised touches which give a shade of informal vibrancies
to an amazing output of refined sounds, reflecting the rich cultural background of the musicians, skillfully blended with
mutual listening and improvisation.
