In this tutorial, you will learn, how to design & simulate a dispersion compensation model using Optisystem 7 Software just by varying the parameters of different input parameters such as optical fiber length, data rate, input power and dispersion value in Ideal Dispersion FBG by using different sweep iterations...
You can also vary the Optical Fiber length at different data rate and input power and see the received output in terms of Bit error rate (BER) & Q-factor.
Moreover, the internal system parameters considered during simulation of the model has been included as follows:

Data Rate= 10 Gbps

Channel Parameters
Loop Control
Number of Loops = 2
Optical Fiber
Fiber length = 100 km
Optical Amplifier
Gain= 20 dB
Noise Figure= 4 dB
Ideal Dispersion FBG
Frequency= 193.1THz
Bandwidth= 1THz
Dispersion= -1500 ps/nm
Receiver Parameters
Low pass bessel filter
Cutoff Frequency= 0.75*Bit Rate Hz
Layout Parameters
Bit Rate= 10000000000 Bits/s
Sequence Length= 128 bits
Sample per bit= 64
Number of samples= 8192

In order to achieve the maximum acceptable Bit error rate (BER) value of 10^-19. You can vary the different internal system parameters values such as Fiber length, input power and dispersion values in Ideal Dispersion FBG to see the variations at the output in terms of Eye diagram & BER values.

In this video you get an idea about how to simulate & design a simple Dispersion pre compensation model in Optisystem and check the results in terms of Bit error rate (BER), Q-factor and Eye Diagram. If not getting proper eye diagram then just change the values of parameters to see the variation in the desired output received.
