BIS-Foreign Manufacturer Certification Scheme | Procedure-BIS for Manufacturer outside India | FMCS

The next Scheme in our #BIS series, is the Foreign Manufacturer Certification Scheme (FMCS). Under FMCS, license is granted to a Foreign Manufacturer whose factory location is outside India. The Foreign applicant has to nominate an Indian resident as an Authorised Indian Representative (AIR).

The #license is granted by Foreign Manufacturers Certification Department (FMCD) located at BIS Headquarters, New Delhi.

In simple words, #FMCS is an #ISI Mark Scheme for overseas #manufacturers.

This Scheme is not applicable to Electronics and IT products.

The first step to get FMCS certification is to identify the Indian Standard (IS) under which your product falls.

The process involves:
[1] Documentation
[2] Factory Inspection
[3] Testing of Samples
[4] Grant of Certificate

On successful testing and verification, #BIS will grant a license to use and apply #ISImark with unique CM/L number on all the products.
