Berlin’s Jewish population has contributed greatly to the history and development of the city, from its mysterious beginnings in the Middle Ages around the “hackesche” courtyards through to its blossoming during the modern times. Surviving the persecution of the Nazi era, the community has led a revival of Jewish life in contemporary Berlin.
