"Windflower" - Fearofdark | Piano Arrangement

Описание к видео "Windflower" - Fearofdark | Piano Arrangement

A cosy lil arrangement of Fearofdark's "Windflower" for solo piano.

This was meant to be done by Christmas but it turned out arranging this was a bit harder than I'd thought it'd be! There are a lot of overlapping voices particularly in the harmony that had to be reduced massively. But now that I think about it does this even sound winter-y in the first place? lol

I imagine a dandelion seed drifting through the air when I hear this piece - the relatively ambiguous chord progression which cycles through multiple different keys (in the later part of the A' section) makes the music feel as if it's being moved along by the wind wherever it blows, flying above a myriad of landscapes until it finally falls to the ground...
I'm a sucker for the spicy maj9(b5) chord which reoccurs throughout the piece. The flatted 5th gives a "darker" feel than the more regular maj9 chord would. The way it and the rest of the chords in this piece are voiced (in the arpeggios) is really beautiful, giving the music a sort of richness, even when the majority of the chords are relatively simple 7ths.

// Revision #1 (27/12/21) - most of the maj9(b5) → maj7(b5). fixed some consistency issues wrt how I considered each chord. the Dmaj7 on m53 → Gmaj7/D.
