Hand Sharpening A Tungsten Carbide Lathe Tool - a video tutorial by Old Sneelock's Workshop

Brazed carbide lathe tools are excellent for turning steel. They can hold an edge cutting through hard-ened alloys and withstand red heat while doing it. That comes with a set of conditions though. Tung-sten Carbide is HARD. The tool will wear away a normal grinding wheel in no time flat. It is also brittle and subject to chipping. The edge needs to be well supported and the sharper the better.
Diamond wheels are the best for dressing the edge. They cut quickly and stay sharp, but they cost a lot. They also have to run true. That means either a special grinder or changing wheel and dressing it round every time.
To get around the cost and the hassle I tried a different method.
