In this new podcast episode, we discuss the relevance of the Nevsun Ruling in corporate accountability for adverse human rights impacts. There are also discussed other several case law all over the globe regarding corporate liability and respective implications for corporations and respective ccountability for human rights adverse impacts, such as forced labour, slavery and cruel a degrading treatment. There are also discussions regarding the forum convention and the competent courts for these kinds of actions and other international private law issues.
This podcast counts with the participation of Dr. Errol Mendes - lawyer, author, professor of Law at University of Ottawa and has been an advisor to corporations, governments, civil society groups and the United Nations. Professor Mendes completed his term as Director of the Human Rights Research and Education Centre where he was the Project leader for human rights, governance and justice projects in China, Thailand, Indonesia, Brazil, Peru, El Salvador, Sri Lanka and Indi, conducted by our interviewer and research associate of the Centre Luís Prata Castro.
