​This is an introduction to finding and downloading earth observation data for machine learning. We will predominantly focus on downloading Sentinel-2 data for regions in Africa. In this session we will touch on the fundamentals of Remote Sensing.

​Remote Sensing fundamentals:
​Types: Optical, radar, thermal sensing
​- Platform types: Satellite, aerial, drone
​- Energy-matter interactions

​Key parameters & resolutions:
​- Spatial resolution & scale concepts
​- Spectral resolution & bands
​- Temporal resolution & revisit times

​We will walk you through:
​How to great a Google Earth Engine account
​- Where to find the APIs needed
​- Walk through a script to start downloading data.

​By the end of this session, you'll be set up to collect and access high-quality EO datasets for your machine learning projects.
