Photography Journal ✱ I landed my dream assignment by cold-pitching

This is a photography vlog I created to document my time spent working my first ever international branding photography assignment for Finca Soley, a natural horsemanship guest ranch in Costa Rica.

About a month ago, I started cold-pitching to hotels, guest ranches, and resorts to see if there was any interest in content creation or photography services. Isa Avendaño at Finca Soley got back to me a few days later and within a week and a half of sending my pitch I was buying a ticket to Costa Rica.

This was a unique opportunity for me to challenge my photography and videography skills, update my photography portfolio and gain experience working with clients abroad.

If you don’t know me, I am an amateur photographer who shoots both digital and film photography and I’m currently in the process of building my travel branding photography business. For the last few years I have been traveling with the intention of shooting travel images but so far these trips have been self-funded and for my own social media pages.

Now I want to start working with brands to intentionally create content and photographs that tell a story. I treat my content creation as an art form and I want my creative process to reflect that.

I have decided to take those interested along with me by documenting my journey to becoming a professional photographer to inspire and help other creatives in a similar position to me.
