Cassadó - Alhambra and Habanera (1925)

Описание к видео Cassadó - Alhambra and Habanera (1925)

From Cassadó's Quatre Pièces Espagnoles.

Alhambra 0:00
The first piece, Alhambra, is a nocturne infused with an Andalusian dance rhythm. Its dedication to the memory of Claude Debussy is evident in its impressionistic soundscapes, reminiscent of Debussy’s slow preludes. The intricate blend of Andalusian flair and impressionistic textures in Alhambra foreshadows the stylistic hallmarks of Cassadó's mature compositions, such as Requiebros (1929) and Achares (1951).

Habanera 4:39
The third piece, Habanera, is dedicated to Madame A.Z. Mathot, the wife of his publisher. This piece is characterized by its lush harmonies and suave style, painting a picture of vibrant Cuban life through its rhythm and melody. Cassadó’s use of the habanera rhythm showcases his ability to infuse traditional Spanish dance forms with a unique, colorful harmonic language, making the piece both captivating and distinctly Cassadó.
