(23 Feb 2017) The head of the French carmaker Peugeot Citroen says he wants to keep the Opel brand should the takeover deal with the German car manufacturer go ahead.
PSA Chairman Carlos Tavares made his comment on Thursday in Paris as he announced last year's earnings to his company's shareholders.
The said the takeover deal would help Peugeot increase its customer base and appeal to those who wouldn't normally consider buying a French car.
PSA is in talks with GM over a possible takeover of Germany-based Opel and its UK brand Vauxhall, which would create Europe's No. 2 carmaker by market share, behind Volkswagen.
