IPL 2018 player retention list is out. Not many surprises as teams stick to their star and valuable players ahead of the IPL 2018 auction. Returning to the IPL after serving two year suspension, Chennai Super Kings have retained MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina. IPL giants Mumbai Indians have retained their Indian core. Skipper Rohit Sharma, seamer Jasprit Bumrah and all-rounder Hardik Pandya will continue to turn out in MI colours. The only surprise so far has been KKR releasing their skipper Gautam Gambhir and retaining Sunil Narine and Andre Russell. On the expected lines, Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab eye a clean slate as they retain one player each. Steve Smith stays at RR and Axar Patel stays with the Punjab unit.
IPL 2018 Player retention as it happened: 0800 pm: This is a wrap from us here. Focus will now shift to the January 27 and 28 auctions where plenty of star Indian and overseas players will go under the hammer.
0750 pm: With one retention each, both RR and KXIP will head into the auctions with two Right to Match cards. Plenty of star players, from their squads, will be up for grabs and it remains to be seen how the two teams approach this season

0733 pm: SRH, on the expected lines, retain skipper David Warner and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The team has enjoyed a very good run under the Australian in the previous editions and Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been very effective with both old and new ball for the team,
