The classes of goods and services that you're including on your trademark application. Unlike China, the United States, Europe, and Australia have a limited number of classifications.

One of the most important things that you need to know is that you need to actually be selling products or providing services, in an association that is appropriate and applicable to the classes of goods that you include on your application.

Unlike China, in the United States, intellectual property law is based upon who is using it first, not who files first. So one of the aspects, when you file, is that you need to file your trademark in classification, or a type of goods, that you are already selling. If you're selling electronics with the brand, you can't register that mark for clothing.

Also, unlike China, where there are hundreds of different classifications, in the United States, there are 25 international classes, and that's it. So it makes our job a bit easier, and it covers more goods for you to sell.
