On June 18, 2022 a Del Shannon History Presentation and Musical Tribute was held at the Battle Creek Regional History Museum. Del Shannon launched his career in Battle Creek when he performed the song Runaway at the Hi-Lo Club. The song was later recorded at a studio in New York, and it hit number one of the Billboard charts. His career took off overnight.

This event was to celebrate the Del Shannon exhibit at the Battle Creek Regional History Museum, and to announce the future permanent exhibit that will be established as the museum is renovated over the next two years.

James Popenhagen from the Del Shannon organization performed the musical tributes, and Brian Young provided the history presentation on his life.
