DIY TELESCOPE
In today’s experiment we have one of our volunteers, Tiffany, show us how to make a DIY telescope to learn about refraction. Convex lenses such as those found in reading glasses can refract light from far away objects to create a clear and magnified image. Refraction is applied in telescopes and microscopes as well as eyeglasses and contact lenses. For this experiment, you’ll need at least two paper towel tubes, a pair of scissors, clear tape, and two convex lenses (ordered online or pop out the lenses from a cheap pair of reading glasses purchased from a pharmacy or dollar store). You can skip ahead to 0:41 to jump straight to the experiment!
