Like many of his fellow retired veteran friends, Jim Petersen could have opted for a quiet and peaceful retirement, going on cruises and playing golf. A retired U.S. Marine captain battle-hardened in Vietnam, Jim wants none of that. To him the world is too beautiful, there is too much to do and too many people who need help to just sit down in the shade. Jim is now the President of the South Dakota Peace and Justice Center, and has been involved for years in countless efforts to promote peace, justice, health and happiness everywhere around the world, utilizing his many skills to help those who need it the most. Some of his most recent endeavors include protecting endangered coral reefs in southern Mexico, installing water purification units in India and standing against abusive, for-profit incarceration in the United States.
