The Aggregate Impact Value (AIV) test determines the resistance of aggregates to impact, assessing their toughness and ability to withstand crushing forces.

Purpose:

Evaluate aggregate strength and durability
Determine suitability for road construction, pavement, and concrete applications
Assess resistance to degradation under traffic loads

Test Procedure:

1. Compact aggregates between 10-14mm in a metal cylinder.
2. Drop a 13.5-14kg hammer onto the aggregates from 380mm.
3. Sieve the crushed material through a 2.36mm sieve.
4. Calculate the aggregate impact value as the percentage of material passing through the sieve.

Calculation:

Aggregate Impact Value = (Weight of material passing 2.36mm sieve / Total weight of sample) x 100

Example:

If the weight of material passing through the 2.36mm sieve is 80gm and the total weight of the sample is 300gm, the Aggregate Impact Value would be 26.67%.

Importance:

A lower AIV indicates greater resistance to impact and fracture, making it crucial for road stones to withstand traffic loads.¹ ²
The Aggregate Impact Value (AIV) test isn't directly related to social media hashtags, but rather a laboratory test to assess the toughness and resistance of aggregates to impact. However, if you're looking for online content related to the Aggregate Impact Value test, you can try searching with relevant hashtags such as¹:
#AggregateImpactTest
#AIVTest
#ConstructionMaterials
#RoadConstruction
#PavementQuality
#AggregateTesting
#CivilEngineering

These hashtags might help you find resources, articles, or videos discussing the Aggregate Impact Value test procedure, its importance, and applications in construction and civil engineering.

The AIV test itself evaluates the aggregate's ability to withstand sudden impact, which is crucial for determining its suitability in various construction projects, such as roads, pavements, and buildings.²
