i'm gonna do a series of videos that compare all the tracks that exist in AX but aren't usable normally with their usable GX counterparts.
for this, i'm using the All Cup cheat code that lets me choose any track in the game. with this i can pick tracks not normally playable in AX. i also enable a code that gives me infinite time since normally the game won't give you time on these tracks (no checkpoints i guess).

Phantom Road was going to be called Rainbow Road originally. i think everyone knows about that by this point. what no one knows is that the original version had something that made the track a lot more annoying than the final version. if you notice carefully, you'll see that the ship wobbles pretty hard when it passes over the gaps between the roads. it looks like collision in that spot had a wider hole and that makes it really easy to lose control of the ship. the ship i used makes this a lot less apparent but bigger ships can wobble pretty much all the time since they're big enough to take up most of the road.

General differences between AX and GX:
the real F-Zero AX is very different compared to F-Zero GX in several things.
the main differences are that the physics are completely different and that makes most advanced techniques from GX not work in AX. another big difference is that L/R strafing in AX is much weaker than in GX and this alone is why you can't MTS or MTRS in AX. side attacks are mapped to the L/R buttons and work similar to F-Zero X in that they need double taps to activate. to do drift turns, you have to press B to brake and this breaks grip and lets you turn sharply. Quick Turn is not possible either so you need drift turns. there's other minor differences such as sound effects for the engine and boosting and the speedometer graphics.
simply put, the real AX is different from GX and can be considered a separate game. the "AX" that so many people think is inside GX is nothing more than leftover menus from development since you play under GX's engine and rules at all times when playing GX.
