Family, there are moments in history when two simple words become a siren. Not because they’re trendy, but because they’re true. And in this season—spiritually and socially—God is sounding an alarm: stay woke. Not “woke” as a slogan, but awake as a discipline—awake to God, awake to truth, awake to what’s happening around you.

In Matthew 26, Jesus is in the Garden of Gethsemane, and the weight on Him is heavy—so heavy that He tells the disciples, “My sorrow is crushing me.” Yet even with all that pressure on His chest, He still turns to His people and gives them a simple assignment: “Stay here and keep watch.” In other words—don’t fall asleep on me when the moment gets hard.

Because sleep isn’t just about your eyelids—it’s about your spirit. You can be awake physically and still be asleep morally. You can be moving daily and still be numb inside. You can be successful, stable, and “good,” and still be out of touch with God’s urgency. Jesus says, “This is not the hour for autopilot. This is the hour for alertness.”

And here’s the conviction: the danger wasn’t just outside the garden—it was inside them. Jesus warns, “The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” That’s why the fast matters. That’s why prayer matters. That’s why we don’t let convenience put our calling to sleep. Over these days, God is waking us up—because the moment requires it.

Prayer: Lord, wake me up—wake up my hunger, my discernment, my courage, and my compassion. Keep me alert in spirit and anchored in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
