Toxic gases started leaking out, sinkholes opened up, and in 1979, a gas station’s underground tank got so hot it reached 170°F. That’s when the government declared the town unsafe. Most residents relocated—but one man refused to leave. He stayed for years, until he was finally forced out. 🏚️😷
Today, Centralia is a ghost town with just empty streets and smoke rising from the ground…
