Exploring an ABANDONED Viking House | Everything Left Inside

Описание к видео Exploring an ABANDONED Viking House | Everything Left Inside

Dating back over 1000 years Icelandic turf homes became a product of the extreme climate that the Nordic country experiences all year round. Your typical turf house would be constructed of flat rocks to make the foundation then a wooden frame would be built and then turf would be placed on top to fit the home with the only exposed wood being the door. This unique construction made for a very well insulated home that was actually easier to build than other homes! Today we take a look inside one of the many abandoned turf houses throughout the country. This one in particular seemed to be owned by a farmer and his family and was abandoned sometime in the 1980s based on dates we found inside. I hope your ready for a great adventure! So join us today and let’s see what’s left!
