The Merc's wiring stops me dead in my tracks

The eco junk wiring harness in my Mercedes 220E (W124) has struck again – and this time I can't see a way around it.

I'm trying to replace the coils, HT leads, and spark plugs, but it's just not going to happen. I think the only sensible thing to do is replace the wiring harness before this all gets out of hand.
