The ThankUmbrella

Reinventing the good ol' Brits best friend

Resources: Umbrella + Metwit API + Textile sensors from PlugAndWear + OpenPicus Flyport hardware

Pitch: ThankUmbrella is the Umbrella refactored for the Internet of things era.

How it works:
The Umbrella is connected to the internet and integrated with Metwit platform.

TAG:
When it's used under the rain the textile sensor stitched on the Umbrella gets "wet".
The umbrella communicates on the web and sends the information (along with other sensed data such as temperature humidity etc etc) to Metwit weather services.
The data is printed on maps and represents a realtime hyperlocal environmental mapping of an area.
But the most important thing is that this way we are also real time mapping weather events, such as rain.

ALERT:
The umbrella is geolocalized. Metwit can send precipitation notifications to the ThankUmbrella. ThankUmbrella in order lights up its notification light and warns the User to pick it up.

THANKS:
If the detected information from the umbrella "was useful for another users" he can thank the source of the data (i.e. the umbrella). The "Thanks" is pushed from Metwit to ThankUmbrella that lights up again in a different color.
