Our September Weather briefing was presented by Ângela Lourenço and Bruno Café (IPMA). In the first part of the briefing Ângela analyses the current weather situation over Europe. She uses WV 6.2 channel overlayed woth ECMWF isotachs and geopotential maps, Airmass RGB and others. She also touches upon Meteoalarm as well as remnants of tropical storm Gordon. In the second part Bruno talks about the devastating Portugal wildfires and the conditions that led to such an event using synoptic charts, satellite imagery, scatterometer data and drought maps.

Once a month EUMeTrain organizes a Weather Briefing open to everyone to discuss the present weather situation. The basis of the discussions are today's and recent satellite images and the corresponding numerical weather prediction data. The Weather Briefings are performed by meteorologists from Croatia, Portugal, Finland, Germany, Austria and Hungary. The sessions are recorded and made available on the internet.
